🎤 Microphone Installation - Central Methodist University

In late 2025, the staff and faculty at Central Methodist University contracted me to install stereo microphones in the Swinney Conservatory of Music. While CMU has quality recording gear to work with, it was cumbersome for the staff and student workers to set up the gear necessary to record the many recitals and concerts that take place in the performance space.

Once the purchases had been made, the Plant Operations team and I hung a static rig in the space outfitted with a matched pair of Rode small-diaphragm condenser microphones. I want to give my colleague Dr. Cory Brodack credit for this idea, as he was instrumental in installing microphones in similar configurations on the Missouri University campus.

Now that the pair of microphones are installed, all concerts and recitals have a reliable quality stereo audio signal that can be used for livestreams and archival purposes.
